Intermediate Training

Applied Sailing offers a comprehensive skipper training program which integrates our practical training with NauticEd’s theory courses and internationally recognized resume and certification system.

Skipper Large KEELBOAT

This training is for those wanting to skipper a large keelboat (26-43 ft).   

 

This training can be combined with our Qualified Crew training where one person is learning crew skills and the other person is learning skipper skills.

 

Training Includes:

 

  • NauticEd Skipper and Maneuvering Under Power online courses

  • FREE Basic Sail Trim course

  • 16 hours of on-the-water practical instruction covering topics such as sailing, tacking, gybing, reefing, the set of the sails, maneuvering in close quarters, rules of right of way, sail trim, helming, docking

 

Certification

Upon successful demonstration of competence, you will receive the NauticEd internationally recognized Skipper Rank Level I.

 

Expectations

At the end of this course, you will start to feel confident with your knowledge and abilities to skipper and crew on a larger keelboat close to your home port.

 

Details

  • $675 per person including online courses ($300 credit if you have already taken Landfall’s Intro to Sailing)

  • Class size is limited to two students

Skipper Small KEELBOAT

This training is for those wanting to skipper a small keelboat (18-25 ft).   

 

This training can be combined with our Qualified Crew training where one person is learning crew skills and the other person is learning skipper skills.

 

Training Includes:

 

  • NauticEd Skipper Skipper Small Keelboat online courses

  • FREE Basic Sail Trim course

  • 16 hours of on-the-water practical instruction covering topics such as sailing, tacking, gybing, reefing, the set of the sails, maneuvering in close quarters, rules of right of way, sail trim, helming, docking

 

Certification

This course, when combined with practical on-the-water training and assessment is officially approved as meeting the On-Water Recreational Boating Skills Standard - SAIL developed by the United States Coast Guard. It is the only course in the world approved to this high standard.

At the end of this course, you will start to feel confident with your knowledge and abilities to skipper and crew on a small keelboat close to your home port.
